MARTINE THOMAS

Viola

Martine Thomas is a senior in the Harvard and New England Conservatory Dual Degree Program, studying viola performance and poetry. She is currently a member of the Brattle Street Chamber Players and several creative and improvised music ensembles. Martine is mentored by Martha Katz, Vijay Iyer, Claire Chase, the International Contemporary Ensemble, the Silkroad Ensemble, and the Parker Quartet. She has performed in the Celebrity Series of Boston, on NPR's show From the Top, and as principal viola of Carnegie Hall's National Youth Orchestra of the USA in China (2015), the U.S. (2014), Russia and London (2013). In the English Department at Harvard, Martine is working on her senior thesis, a collection of poetry, with Jorie Graham.
