Andrea Piccioni is a renowned master performer on frame drums and Italian tamburello. He has studied frame drum rhythms and performance techniques from the Middle East, India, North Africa, and Central Asia.

 

Andrea has toured world-wide, performed in prestigious venues, and collaborated with distinguished international musicians, including Bobby McFerrin, Reinhard May, Richard Bona, Paul McCandless, Les Haulz et Les Bas, Francesco Turrisi, Gianluigi Trovesi, Luciano Biondini, Basel Rajoub, Manfred Leuchter, Dónal Lúnny, Caitriona O’Leary, Riccardo Tesi, Lucilla Galeazzi, Wu Man. He collaborates assiduously with the Aga Khan Music Program from which he was awarded the title of Master Musician through international educational projects and tours with musical greats from around the world.

In 2022 he was a member of the jury for the selection of music for the Mediterranean Games. With the Shuluq Ensemble, of which he is a founding member, he performed in May 2022 at the Quirinale Palace in Rome in the presence of President Sergio Mattarella and Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

He is professor of the Academic Course of Frame Drums at the P. I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Nocera Terinese (Cz, IT). Andrea published DVDs and books dealing with the Italian frame drums and rhythm language. www.andreapiccioni.net
